UPS Runtime Calculation for WISPs

Ensuring adequate battery backup for your tower sites is crucial for maintaining uptime during power outages. This calculator helps you estimate how long your equipment will stay online based on the battery bank capacity.

How it works

The formula used is: Runtime = (Battery Voltage × Battery Ah × Efficiency) / Load Watts. We use a standard efficiency factor of 0.85 to account for inverter losses, wiring resistance, and battery aging.

50% Depth of Discharge (DoD)

Standard Lead-Acid and AGM batteries should typically not be discharged below 50% capacity to maximize their lifespan. Deep cycle (Gel/LiFePO4) batteries may allow for deeper discharge (80-100%).
