How accurate is IP geolocation?
IP geolocation maps an address to the network that announces it, so it reliably identifies the country and ISP and usually the city or metro area, but not a street address. Mobile, CGNAT and VPN addresses often resolve to the provider's core location rather than the user, so treat city-level results as approximate.
What the ASN tells you
The ASN (Autonomous System Number) identifies the operator that routes the address on the global internet. It is the most dependable field here: it names the actual network owner even when the physical location is fuzzy.
