What your IP address reveals

Your public IP address is assigned by your internet provider and is how servers reach you. It exposes your ISP and a rough geographic location (usually the city of the network, not your exact address), but not your name or precise position. Behind CGNAT or a VPN, the address shown here is the shared or exit-node IP, not your device's local one.

IPv4 vs IPv6

An address like 203.0.113.5 is IPv4; a longer address like 2001:db8::1 is IPv6. Many networks now hand out both. If you see an IPv6 address here, your connection preferred it for this request.
