Running WiFi at a marina

Marinas mix short visits with long seasons, and boats carry more devices than a hotel room. ISPbox handles transient boaters with hotspot passes and slip holders with regular monthly service, on the same MikroTik and RADIUS setup.

Transient boaters

Boaters join the marina SSID and land on its splash page. They buy a pass, enter a code from the office, or sign in with a phone number and a one-time code. Each pass has a validity, a speed, a device limit and an optional data cap, and devices are remembered by MAC so they reconnect for the rest of the stay. The guest page lets them add a device such as a TV by its MAC address.

Slip holders

A slip holder can be a normal customer with a monthly, seasonal or prepaid service, card autopay and a customer portal. Service is tied to the marina location, so messages and outage notices reach everyone there.
